Being born in the early 1960s me, Michael, grew up in West Berlin.Since I was a child, I loved spending time in nature and on adventure playgrounds, hanging out around campfires and soaking up the fascination of the “Cowboy and Wild West Atmosphere”.
Right after getting my driver’s licence I bought a Toyota BJ40 which I converted from scratch to a fully loaded off-road vehicle.
Since then my passion for offroad driving and rallyes was ignited and I took part in the National Selections of the well-known Camel Trophy and I also participated and finished the Transsylvania Trophy.
I have always been mesmerised by travelling, but before I met Sabine, taking care of my pets at home has limited my trips which I did compensate with very regular weekend offroad fun.
Also being born in the 1960s me, Sabine, grew up close to Cologne. Travelling has been one of the most exciting things since my early childhood. If I wasn’t able to take a trip, I devoured any type of book I could get my hands on.
During my working life I always tried to spend my holidays quite far away from home, visiting different parts of the Caribbean and taking several trips to Canada as well as frequent trips to the Maldive islands and the Philippines.
Besides exploring foreign places and people, scuba diving and skiing became two of my favorite leisure activities. After meeting Michael, my passion for travelling in one’s own vehicle constantly grew stronger and stronger, especially after an amazing vacation in an offraod vehicle, exploring remote areas of Canada, totally out of touch with civilization for a while!
After this vacation, we bought a second-hand expedition vehicle based on a Mercedes 1017A. We used it to explore the area, but only made a few short trips. The desire to explore the world far away from the tourist resorts with such a vehicle and to be able to spend longer periods of time completely self-sufficiently, even in remote places, grew from time to time.
We sold all our belongings and decided to explore the world as nomads from then on. Our current vehicle was then adapted to our needs; the Zetros was launched by Mercedes while we were looking for the right chassis.
We have been on the road intermittently since 2013. Like the rest of the world, we were very restricted by Covid from 2020, but we were still able to take a few trips, including to Turkey, Greece, Italy and Tunisia.
From 2021, our lifes changed abruptly. Here, we tell you about our mission
